Franklin High School Marching Band Wins Governor’s Cup

The Franklin High School Marching Band defended their Grand Champion title this weekend at the Contest of Champions at MTSU on Oct 26th. Competing against 16 bands, Franklin took home first place, with a score of 90.5, and the Governor’s Cup for the second consecutive year.

This is one of many awards for the Rebel Marching Band this year.

On October 19, they competed against 19 other bands from seven states in the 2013 Music for All Bands of America Regional Championship in Powder Springs, Georgia. They scored 87.7, taking home first place. They also received awards for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Visual Effect.

Also earlier this season, The Band also won top honors in the Lower Antioch Experience Marching Band Invitational at Antioch High School.

The Franklin Band is led by David Aydelott, Michael Holland and Monica Zsolt. We had the pleasure of speaking to them at one of this season’s football games. If you missed that video, check it out HERE.

  1. Does Williamson Source only recognize Franklin High Band for their wins? I understand that they are the largest band and school in Williamson County but there are other high school bands that are outstanding too. I know Franklin band member families are extremely proud of their kids but there are other parents that are equally proud of their kids and they are NEVER given credit for their wins. Summit High Marching Spartans have won two band competitions this season and at Vanderbilt Marching Invitational this past weekend, they also would the Chancellors Trophy in the small band division. This band and school have only been in existence for 3 years and were only able to purchase their uniforms this year just before their first competition of the season. I’m sorry I do not know of the all other county high school band accomplishments because I am only familiar with Summit, but I’m sure the other schools would also appreciate being recognized as well. Remember there are others that would like to be appreciated too.

  2. Congratulations for winning this honor and for continually working hard. You may be “the largest band” in Williamson county, as pointed out above. But large does not equate to winner. It’s the hard work and dedication that make you winners!!!
