Franklin April Fool’s Joke Makes BuzzFeed

A Franklin instaMeet group helped a friend pull of the ultimate April Fool’s joke–an elopement!

Kathryn Wolle, 23, tells Buzzfeed she decided to elope with a friend after a series of online dating nightmares–one match was even arrested during their date!

“I had to drive his stick shift car back while the officer just laughed and shook his head at me,” she added. “Granted, the warrant was about a speeding ticket or something fairly harmless, but still.”

In January, Kathryn met Alex Ciaramitaro during an InstaMeet in Franklin. Alex organizes the meet-up group. The friends decided to stage a fake wedding on March 29th at Tin Cottage.

Of the 25 people who attended or knew about the prank, many of them met through Alex’s InstaMeets. They pitched in to make the prank as elaborate as possible by bringing food, creating invitations and using #CiaramitaroWedding on Instagram.

Kathryn posted on the Tin Cottage Facebook Page :

“Sorry/not sorry for the elaborate setting up, but we knew that if we didn’t start specifying things up at certain times then it wouldn’t be as believe-able. I knew that it would get my parents but what neither of us realized was how it would basically break Facebook. The outpouring of love and support, even though it was unexpected was astounding and I am so humbled and grateful to know that ya’ll would have my back.

“That being said, please let it be known that OF COURSE I would not have a wedding without my people knowing. I need my sisters and brothers and parents and all those flipping adorable nephews and nieces to come bask in my bridal radiance and glory. It may still be a fast ordeal and a 30 day notice sort of thing but at least I’ll give you a heads up….”
