Franklin Approves Short-Term Vacation Rentals

On Tuesday night the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved an ordinance to allow short-term vacation rentals as a viable business option in Franklin.

Short-term vacation rentals will operate as a business and be under regulations also passed during Tuesday’s BOMA meeting.

These types of stays are limited to 21 days or less. Homes that offer this service operate in the same zoning districts as Bed and Breakfasts, and are required to be in homes that have four bedrooms or less, sufficient smoke detectors and homeowners insurance covering $1 million in liability in order to qualify.

Persons wanting to operate a short-term vacation rental must obtain a business license and pay appropriate taxes to do so.
