Brentwood (6-5) got a statement win on Friday night in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

In beating Memphis Central 52-7, the Bruins proved not just that they belong in the postseason, but that they are a dangerous team.

No. 3 seed Brentwood went all the way to No. 2 seed Memphis Central (7-4), and felt right at home. Quarterback Carson Croy threw more touchdowns (3) than incomplete passes (2) while Ahmad Arnold and Collin Rudolph beat down the Memphis Central defense with power running.

The Bruins defense held the Warriors to 180 yards of total offense- with just 36 yards rushing on 15 carries- and had three interceptions.

Meanwhile Brentwood totaled 355 yards on offense.

The Bruins started slow, trading touchdown runs in the first quarter- -John Robertson (23 carries, 103 yards) scored on a 5-yard run for Brentwood to make it a 7-7 quarter.

Arnold scored on two 1-yard runs in the second quarter.

The third quarter belonged to Croy, who finished 15 for 17 for 174 yards and three scores, while also running for 46 yards on 10 carries. Robertson led Brentwood with 8 catches for 62 yards.

This Friday, November 13th, Brentwood is still on the road but much, much closer to home, the Bruins scoot down 65 to Centennial, with a chance to avenge their 24-10 October loss to the Cougars.
