First Ever Spring Hill Skate Shop Now Open

Sam Oechslin and his step-father, Kim Procter opened the first skate shop in Spring Hill the weekend before Christmas. It is called Old School Skate Company and located at 1220 School Street, off Duplex Road near the skate park.

The walls of the shop are, of course, decked out with boards and the rest of the space is filled with other acessories, like wheels, trucks, deck-tape and tools. The project, which came together quickly, will soon have the deals in place to sell clothes, shoes and other products.

Oechslin, who grew up in Spring Hill, is proud to be giving skateboarders of all ages an option near home.

“Back in the day, we always wanted a skate park and a shop and never got them,” Oechslin said. “Now that we have a park, I figured if I wanted a shop I would have to do it myself.”

They opened just a few weeks ago and hours are not set yet for the store, as Oechslin and Procter want to figure out the habits of their customers and how best to serve their needs.

Also, just for now the shop only sells hardware, like boards, wheels and trucks, but will stock accessories as soon as deals come through with brands.

“This came together rather quickly, so as time goes on we will get more and more inventory,” Oechslin said. “We are just so excited to be running a bona fide skate shop in Spring Hill.”
