Finds & Happenings: The Honeysuckle Opens Today

The Honeysuckle

The Honeysuckle restaurant opens to the public today. Owned by Kelly Black who also owns Pie in the Sky, The Honeysuckle is vastly different than anything else in Cool Springs.

No detail has been overlooked in the decor. Silverware has been place on a grand piano, the bar purchased at an antique shop was fitted for the restaurant. Custom upholstery seats throughout the restaurant lends itself to a feel of a restaurant you might find in The Gulch or on 12th South in Nashville.

During the pre-opening party, small bites were passed to patrons that included: Tuna Tartare with wasabi, bread pudding with fig, smoked salmon on toast with dill, shrimp and grits and deviled eggs with bacon jam. Patron also enjoyed an oyster bar which will be open each evening when the restaurant opens.

We spoke to Josh Weekley, Executive Chef and Partner, who gave us his favorite dishes from the menu- Sauteed Grouper or Dry Age Steak. Weekley said the restaurant houses a dry age cooler for all of their steaks making them unique in taste. In addition to the food selections, they will have a large variety of regional beers on tap as well as craft cocktails all made with fresh ingredients.

Ashley Jent, who previously worked at Mason’s, is the pastry chef.  She intrigued us with her chocolate ganache with a small shortbread cookie served on a spoon.  It certainly left us wanting more. We heard there was a peach dessert but it was gone before we could sample it.

The Honeysuckle restaurant is located at 1770 Galleria Boulevard, Franklin.  Follow them on Facebook for their latest updates. The video below, posted by The Honesuckle on their Facebook page, gives you a great mini tour of the bar area.
