Many people have been wondering when the new Walmart, located at 7100 Hopgood Road, in Fairview will open. An official press release states this new location will open Wednesday, January 15th.
A brief ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on the 15th at 8am, then the store will be open to the public. The grand-opening celebration will also include presentations of $8,000 in grants from Walmart to local community groups.
The Fairview Walmart will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and employs approximately 300 full and part time associates.
“Fairview is looking forward to the opening of this super Walmart facility and the benefit that it will bring to our community,” said Fairview Chamber of Commerce Vice President Jon Cherry. “We anticipate the opening will have a significant economic impact, keeping tax dollars local and bringing new jobs as well. And I know many people are excited about the additional shopping convenience close to home.”
On Saturday, January 18th, Walmart will host A Big Family Welcome, giving the Fairview community a chance to meet the store manager, Philip Richard, and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples. The event will take place from 12p-3p.
