Outlook:

Fairview is coming off their best season in school history as they went undefeated in the regular season and posted an 11-1 record in 2016.

The last undefeated regular season for Fairview came way back in 1990 so what can the Yellow Jackets do for an encore in 2017?

The Yellow Jackets return five starters from last year’s spread offense that averaged 41.7 points per contest and it all starts with QB Kam Harris-Lusk.

Harris-Lusk passed for 1,588 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore and coach Chris Hughes expects a breakout season from his junior quarterback.

Three starters return on the offensive line as senior Eli Clifton and juniors Hiller Gray and Jackson Clevenger will look to provide veteran leadership to the line and senior Corbin Hughes will be the top receiving threat at wide out and senior Khristian Harris-Lusk will be the starter at running back.

The Yellow Jacket defense returns seven starters and will be the strength of the team this year with senior Tristan Mann (82 tackles) leading the way at linebacker.

Mann will be joined by another returning starter in Brendan Nardozzi  (28 tackles). Fellow senior David McNeil will round out the starters at linebacker.

Two seniors will return on the defensive line as K.K. McKinney (58 tackles, three sacks) and Andrew Vanover (21 tackles) will both return to line up at defensive end.

Khristian Harris-Lusk (58 tackles) will again be back to play at both linebacker and a safety position while the secondary will return two starters in junior Blake Russell (26 tackles) and senior Tony Torres (18 tackles).

The non-Region schedule will be challenging for Fairview. They start the season hosting Williamson County neighbor Page as well as going to White House Heritage and to Waverly and will host another Williamson County foe in Ravenwood.

Coach Hughes’ Thoughts:

“I am very optimistic about our team this year with the experience we have at quarterback and linebacker and what I feel is the best kicker in the mid state. Our schedule is really tough this year and we have to stay healthy to have a chance at another great season. Looking forward to see who steps up this year on both sides of the ball.”
