Fairview High School Alum Becomes Fairview Middle Principal

Brentwood Middle School Assistant Principal Heather Hayes is returning home to be the leader of Fairview Middle School next year. The 1996 Fairview High graduate will replace Fairview Middle School Principal Gary Shrader who will retire at the end of the 2015-16 school year.

heather hayes“Heather is a perfect choice to step in at Fairview Middle School,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “Not only has Heather proven to be an educational leader in the classroom, front office and at the district level, her ties to the community will be an advantage for her as she builds on the foundation in place.”

Hayes has served as an assistant principal at Brentwood Middle School for the past three years. She began her teaching career in 2002 as a ninth grade English teacher at Centennial High where she also served as a basketball coach, softball coach and Freshman Academy Coordinator. In 2012, Hayes was named Centennial High School Teacher of the Year, Williamson County High School Teacher of the Year and Mid-Cumberland Regional Teacher of the Year. Hayes later served as a Lead Mentor Teacher for Williamson County Schools.

“I am honored to become the next principal of Fairview Middle School,” said Hayes. “I am eager and thankful to be able to serve the community that once served me. I look forward to partnering with the students, parents, teachers and staff of the Fairview Middle School community to foster the social, emotional and academic growth of all students.”

Hayes holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in English from Lambuth University, an Education degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University. She will begin her new role July 1.
