Rodeo and Juliet Featuring Marc Martel of the Queen Extravangza
The Franklin Theatre
Sun, Jul 23 6:30 pm
This intimate and fun evening of American Roots music celebrates favorite timeless classics, blended with original songs and features Grammy level guest artists, songwriters and musicians, along with their Nashville A-team band. Your hosts Chris and Jan Harris (aka Rodeo and Juliet) have spent the past 40 years producing, singing, touring & writing with a wide array of artists - Stevie Ray Vaughn, Loretta Lynn, Amy Grant, Kristin Chenoweth, Michael W Smith and CeCe Winans just to name a few. Come celebrate this summer and make musical memories with the “Dear Hearts and Gentle People” of Franklin Tennessee. MARC MARTEL had a “crazy little thing” happen to him one lovely day while horsing around on a microphone in his Franklin attic home studio a couple of years ago. He sent in a demo of Queen’s infamous “Somebody to Love” not to a label, but to the remaining members of...QUEEN! He was summand by the band to come on tour with Queen The Extravaganza, and the rest is history. For this very humble man who spent years recording and touring as the vocalist and primary songwriter for Downhere, an award-winning Canadian rock band with a sound, style and fan base all its own, the success of The Extravaganza has come with a catch. Asked about his new album, Martel smiles and says, "It's a bit tongue-in-cheek”. Being compared to Freddie Mercury is something I've come to terms with. I don't know that I'll ever successfully avoid the comparisons, as much as I might want to. Why bother, though? People hear what they want to hear because it makes them feel good, and gives them a momentary pause from a loss rock and roll has felt for years. And I'm very okay with that. But in the end, it's not me. This album “Impersonator” is unmistakably me, and that's so satisfying." We are excited to host “the real” Marc Martel and hear him sing the title track to his very personal journey.
