In a senior year recruiting cycle that has seen a decommitment from Purdue and a verbal commitment to Michigan, Independence’s Nate Johnson has softened his verbal commitment to Michigan and will announce where he will be attending college on National Signing Day.

Wednesday, Johnson announced that he will make his final decision at a signing day press conference on February 3rd at Independence High School. In his tweet, Johnson thanked God for the opportunity to be recognized among the top recruits in the country and all the colleges that recruited him throughout the cycle. Johnson revealed his top three: the Michigan Wolverines, the Miami Hurricanes, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Johnson said he will be announcing via “the hat method”, the traditional method for recruits to announce their commitments on national signing day.

Recruiting analysts at rivals.com believe that wide receiver Eddie McDoom from Winter Garden, Florida is likely to commit to Michigan and Atlanta wide receiver Randrecous Davis will possibly join the Hurricanes, opening the door for Johnson to head to Notre Dame. Johnson visits South Bend this weekend on his official visit.
