Downtown Franklin to Get Additional Traffic Light

Downtown Franklin traffic light

The county’s Property Committee approved a resolution on Sept. 12 giving the city of Franklin and the Harpeth Square project developer permission to install a traffic light in anticipation of traffic from the $80 million overhaul of downtown’s northeast block.

The County Commission will vote on the light, which will control traffic at the intersection of Second Avenue North and Bridge Street, at its meeting on October 10.

Specifically, the county needs to grant an easement to the city and Harpeth Associates, to allow them to install the needed electrical box for the light, given the county’s authority in the right-of-way on Bridge Street.

Developers of Harpeth Square, along 1st Avenue, Main Street, 2nd Avenue and Bridge Street, have plans to build a 115-room four-star hotel, 155 luxury apartments, about 30,000 square feet of retail space for restaurants and shops. These three sections will hug a 600-space parking garage open to the public.
