Detectives Investigating Attack on Franklin Woman

Franklin Police want women to be a bit more aware of their surroundings while an investigation is underway to determine if two recent incidents might be connected.

On Tuesday, a resident of a Toll House Circle apartment complex reported being accosted and physically assaulted by a stranger in the breezeway outside her apartment. The assault happened at 8:40 a.m. while the victim was locking her apartment door. The victim fought back and was able to escape.

At 9:00 p.m., on April 10, a female resident at the condominium complex in the 1100 block of Downs Boulevard reported being approached by a man while walking her dog outside her condo. Sensing danger, the woman ran back to her condo, and the man began chasing behind. He repeatedly rang the doorbell after the woman locked herself inside. She was not injured.

Both women report the suspect in their incident as either a black male or dark skinned white male in his 30s, with a slender build. The victim in the Toll House Circle incident reports that the suspect had a strong, musty odor. Detectives are working to determine if the suspect may be one of the homeless men suspected of camping in a wooded area at the dead end of Vintage Grove Lane.

Franklin Police have stepped up patrols in the areas of both incidents, and on the walking trail. Detectives are asking area residents with outside security cameras to review their DVRs for anything that might help to identify a suspect. Anyone with information is urged to call Franklin Police: (615) 794-2513.
