Davis House Child Advocacy Center Receives $30K Grant

Davis House Child Advocacy Center recently received a grant from The Healing Trust in the amount of $30,000 which will be used for healing services delivered through the counseling program at Davis House. The Center exceeded its projected target of 55 children by providing 929 counseling sessions to 75 children in 2016. Overall, Davis House served 467 new child clients last fiscal year.

The Healing Trust awarded a total of $1.1 million to non-profit organizations that focus on advocacy, physical health, mental health, recovery from alcohol and drug abuse or healing from abuse, neglect, and violence across 40 Middle Tennessee counties.

This year’s grants bring the collective grant making of The Healing Trust to over $76 million since 2002.

Davis House Child Advocacy Center provides investigative and healing services, which include forensic interviews, child and family advocacy and counseling to children under the age of eighteen. Davis House actively collaborates with law enforcement, Department of Children’s Services, the local office of the District Attorney General and Juvenile Court in the state-mandated multi-disciplinary Child Protective Investigative Team (CPIT) as it responds to allegations of child abuse. In addition, the Center provides community prevention and awareness education to train adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child abuse.

Davis House is an accredited child advocacy center by the National Children’s Alliance and is committed to providing a safe environment where a child’s voice is heard and respected. The Center serves the 21st Judicial District encompassing Williamson, Hickman, Lewis and Perry counties.
