Williamson County is gaining another large project as Highwoods and SouthStar join to develop the 145 acres near the Nissan Headquarters. Highwood Properties has plans to build 1.3 million square feet of office space on 68 acres while SouthStar LLC, develops the other 77.
According to the Tennessean report the companies have decided to jointly develop the property as a $500 million project. The location is along McEwen Drive and Carothers Parkway. Highwoods is the master developer controlling the infrastructure and building the office space. SouthStar is focusing on retail, a hotel, residential prospects and a bit of office space.
Southstar has confirmed that design work is underway for the mixed-use project on the last large tract of unclaimed land in the corridor. As we reported yesterday the need for office space and residential mixed-use areas is on the rise to attract the needed IT and creative communities sought by local business.
