Cool Springs Ovation Development Approved

Cool Springs will soon see an innovative mixed-use development going up at the intersection of Carothers Parkway and McEwen Drive.

In a unanimous vote, Franklin alderman approved site-plans for Ovation, a $700 million, 147-acre development in Cool Springs. Although parking is still a concern that joint developers with Highwoods Properties and SouthStar, LLC  will need to present a plan for and get approved.

The development is focused on a “smart growth living experience,”  which means a pedestrian-friendly, all-inclusive living environment with lots of options for food, retail and work within walking distance. The 1.4 million sq. ft. of office space is planned to be Class A LEED certified, and a transit system will includes trollies and plenty of biking/walking trails.

ovation2A 300-room full service hotel will be included in the development as well as 350,000 sq. ft. of retail dining and entertainment space, as well as 57 acres of open green space.

“Ovation fulfills the City of Franklin’s vision for Cool Springs, complements its neighbors and connects adjacent properties into a unified, carefully planned area,” said Glenn Wilson, CEO of SouthStar LLC, a Franklin, Tenn.-based commercial real estate development company.
