When it comes to buying a car, you want a vehicle that is safe, long lasting and won’t let you down. When it comes to ensuring you are buying a quality product, one of the most respected resources is Consumer Reports and they recently announced their top domestic automotive picks.
At the top of the list is Chevrolet, which has two models in Consumer Reports Top 10 Domestic Cars, SUVs and Trucks for 2016. Consumer Reports says that Chevrolet has the Top Domestic Large Car of 2016 and Best Domestic Compact Car of 2016.
Large Car: Chevrolet Impala 2LTZ
The Chevrolet Impala was ultimately picked for its advances in safety and its great value for what acts and feels like a luxury vehicle. They found the car comfortable with the roomy interior and quiet driving, which made it more enjoyable to drive. The vehicle has the upgraded engine for speed as well as ultimate control with a six-speed automatic transmission and secure, responsive brakes. The choices for the engine size include a powerful 3.6-liter V6 and an adequate 2.5-liter four-cylinder. While the gas mileage is perhaps low at 22 mpg for the v6, for a large car with such a powerful engine, it could be a worthwhile trade-off. Controls are intuitive and easy to use. While rear visibility is restricted, the much desired advanced electronic safety features are readily available along with other technology updates such as Apple CarPlay capability and wireless cell-phone charging.
Subcompact Car: Chevrolet Sonic LT (1.8L)
For those who love versatility and design, The Chevrolet Sonic hatchback might be the perfect car for you. The Chevrolet Sonic hatchback and sedan give the ultimate comfort that a subcompact vehicle can offer with plenty of room especially in the trunk for the sedan and awesome utility space for the hatchback. While there are many options of vehicles above 30 mpg, the modest 28 mpg is plenty adequate. The handling with acceleration and braking are secure, but the most impressive features of this vehicles is the upgraded technology. While it offers the now standard features of keyless entry and push-button start, they have great optional features such as heated seats and steering wheel and forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. Other technology that is standard on this vehicle is a 7-inch touch screen backed by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities as well as cameras on the rear and safety front.
