Community Heroes: Tatum Allsep & Music Health Alliance

Franklin resident Tatum Allsep founded Music Health Alliance, a non-profit organization to help those in the music industry navigate the healthcare system.

As a 20-year veteran in the music industry, Allsep was instrumental in launching the Vanderbilt Medical Center Music Industry Relations department. Allsep has also been the 2014 recipient of the Tennessee Healthcare Innovation Award from the US Council on Workforce Innovation.

As a non-profit organization, they hold two fund raisers each year – Celebrity Barn Dance and The First and the Worst which recently took place at City Winery. Every year, iconic singer/songwriters  share their fist and worst songs at the First and Worst event. This year, Rosanne Cash (“I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me,” “Seven Year Ache”), Sonny Curtis (“I Fought The Law,” “I’m No Stranger To The Rain”), Frank Rogers (“I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” “Alright”) and Steve Wariner (“Long Necked Bottle,” “Holes In The Floor Of Heaven”) were the special guests.

Frank Rogers, who has produced 18 Gold and Platinum albums to date, received the highly-coveted “Crappy” Award for his off-color “Playing Possum,” as voted by the audience as “The First And The Worst’s” most memorable song of the night. 2015’s “Crappy” Award recipient Wynn Varble was on hand to present the award. Rogers later went on to perform hits “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” and “Alright.”
