City of Sping Hill Responds to Former Officer Indicted on Rape Charges

On October 3, 2016, former Spring Hill Police Officer Christopher Odom was taken into custody by the the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

On July 30, 2016, the Spring Hill Police Department became aware of allegations of conduct unbecoming of an officer regarding Officer Odom. On August 1, 2016, Officer Odom was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Once investigators determined the types of incidents that transpired during Officer Odom’s service, a consultation with the Maury County District Attorney ensued. It was with the advice of the district attorney that the investigation be turned over to the TBI due to the severity of the allegations. The Spring Hill Police Department provided the TBI with all information and collaboratively assisted in gathering further evidence regarding this investigation.

The actions of Officer Odom are not indicative of a Spring Hill Police Officer and is in direct violation of departmental policies. The department takes great pride in serving our community and preserving the trust of our citizens.

Officer Odom’s employment as a SHPD officer has been terminated due to his violation of internal city policies. Officer Odom had been employed with the City of Spring Hill since December 2013. No court dates have been set at this time as the TBI prepares to present the evidence obtained during its investigation.
