Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Star Bright Players Premiers Thursday

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s Star Bright Players will present the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Thursday through Sunday, Dec. 1-4 at the Freedom Middle School Theatre, 750 Highway 96 West in Franklin.

Tickets are $8 for general admission and may be purchased at the Franklin Recreation Complex or at the door, if still available.

Shows are at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The 80-member cast of children ranging in age from 7 to 18 is directed by Leslie Milstead with musical direction by Chris DeBerry and assistant direction and choreography by Erin Laming. It’s the show’s regional premiere by a children’s theater group.

Several of the cast come from Spring Hill, including Preston Russell as Jeremy Potts and Tyler Worden as Grandpa Potts.

The plot follows eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts, as he sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car has magical properties, including the ability to float and take flight. Trouble occurs when the show’s villain, Baron Bomburst, desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and batty Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.
