They didn’t start fast, but once the Centennial Cougars got things moving Friday against Dickson County, they ran away with their first Region 7-5A win of the season.

Behind running back Zyon Lee, the Cougars (2-1) relied heavily on their running game to double up Dickson County (1-2) 56-28.

Lee finished with 151 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Tavion Fleming added 71 yards on just five carries as Centennial rushed for 362 yards as a team on 44 attempts.

To go along with their potent running game, the Cougars’ defense was equally as impressive. They gave up 332 yards passing to DCHS quarterback Jacob Murphree, but he threw four interceptions on just 22-of-41 passing and didn’t score.

Centennial will go outside of region play in Week 4 as it travels to Williamson County rival Ravenwood (2-1). The Cougars got the better of their 6A foe last season 30-13.
