Celebrate Memorial Day in Downtown Franklin with a War Hero

memeorial day

It is easy to forget, with all the hot dogs and swimming, what Memorial Day is really about.

Start out the day with a reminder at the annual Williamson County Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 29th at 10 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park (located at Five Points in downtown Franklin).

The program will last approximately 45 minutes and seating will be provided; however, attendees are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs to the event. Participants will include the Williamson County Community Band and members of the 101st Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell and the Tennessee National Guard.

The special guest this year will be Major Retired James D. Hochstetler. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and University of Hawaii with an MBA, Jim spent his career with the 5th Special Forces group where he commanded numerous missions to Jordan, Lebanon and other areas in the Middle East before retiring from government service in late 2016.
