The entire audience was on their feet when Carrie Underwood performed at the ACM Awards in Vegas Sunday night. It was the first time Carrie has performed since her accident, in which she received over 40 stitches on her face.

Underwood performed her latest song just released days before the ACM Awards “Cry Pretty.” This emotional anthem was met with a standing ovation that lasted at least 30 seconds which seem to catch Underwood off guard. Moments later, Underwood hears her name proclaimed as the winner of the “Vocal Event of the Year” with Keith Urban for “The Fighter.”  In her acceptance of the award, Underwood stated, “Thank you for having me, she said to Urban, “I’m still kind of shaking right now” said Underwood.

Backstage, Host of the ACM Awards, Reba McEntire was asked about Underwood’s performance. McEntire told ET, “I’m very proud of Carrie, she’s gone through a lot and I’m proud she’s back on the stage again, she a tremendous vocalist, incredible! Got legs to die for.. but she’s an incredible vocalist.”

When asked about the crowd’s reaction to Underwood performance, McEntire continued by saying, “I wasn’t surprised at all, I knew everybody would be so grateful she was back.”

It was definitely a highlight of the show. There were also several other female artists who performed throughout the show which included Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Lauren Alaina, Reba, and Kelly Clarkson to name a few.
