Bryce Denton Picked 2nd Round Cardinals

On Monday evening, Bryce Denton’s dream to play major league ball came true. Denton was chosen in the second round, 66 pick by the St. Louis Cardinals. At 6’1″ 200 lbs, 3rd baseman,  R/R, Perfect Game 1st Team All-American, #92 on the Baseball America Top 100 draft prospects list (college and HS), and recently named 11-AAA District Player of the Year, Denton has been under the radar for his accomplishments.

While Denton is signed with Vanderbilt University to play in the fall, the opportunity to play professional ball for the Cardinals is appealing. He has until mid July to decide what path he will choose. Click here to read a story published by Vanderbilt today.

Denton graduated in May from Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, TN and was recently named 11-AAA District Player of the Year. He played third base while at Ravenwood. To see highlights of his season and view information about the Ravenwood Baseball Program, Click here.

As the announcement was made, Denton, his teammates, and prospective team all took to social media to capture the moment.  On Twitter, Denton posted, “Dreams are possible…was a Cardinals fan because of my dad… I can’t imagine how proud of me he is right now. This was him.”

Denton’s father Denny had been the driving force working alongside his son until he passed away at the age of 52. Recognizing the impact his father had on his baseball career thus far, and thinking toward the future, Denton will always carry his father’s love with him.
