Brentwood Teen Injured in Violent Car Crash Tuesday

Franklin Police said it continues to investigate the extremely violent crash that seriously injured an 18-year-old from Brentwood.

At 9:15 a.m., the 18-year-old female driver was exiting I-65 southbound at McEwen Drive at an extremely high rate of speed.

She lost control of her Lexus SUV, barreling across two westbound lanes and five eastbound lanes of traffic on McEwen. The SUV also jumped two medians before careening down the on ramp embankment adjacent to the Drury Plaza Hotel. According to police, the speed that the vehicle hit the ground at the bottom of the embankment was great enough that the two front seats, center console, and engine dislodged from the rest of the SUV. They landed 80 feet away in the hotel parking lot.

Police said they found the driver found unconscious in the tree line.

Emergency personnel then transported her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition. No one else was hurt. Investigators are working to determine if alcohol may have been a factor in this crash.
