The City of Brentwood wants you to “Play in the Parks” during the May 19-21 weekend. Whether you love movies, dogs, children, cycling, hiking, food trucks or fire trucks, there will be something in one of Brentwood’s 14 city parks for you to enjoy.

Brentwood Mayor, Regina Smithson, declared May 20 as Kids to Parks Day in partnership with the national event organized by the National Park Trust. Mayor Smithson said, “We are using this day to invite our Brentwood families to exercise and enjoy the company of friends and neighbors in our city’s beautiful parks.”

The weekend’s activities begin Friday night with Brentwood’s first Movie in the Park sponsored by Audi of Nashville. Disney’s Moana will be played on a large screen inside the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater at dusk. Prior to the movie, food trucks will be serving ice cream, shaved ice, pizza, and BBQ from 6 to 9 pm.

On Saturday morning, the official re-grand opening of Brentwood’s Dog Park, recently named “Barkwood Dog Park” will open. The sponsor, MARS Petcare, will be present with treats and prizes. Saturday afternoon, kids of all ages are invited to join some of the city’s police and firefighters on a bike ride from River Park to Crockett Park. Enjoy touching-a-truck at Crockett Park all afternoon as the Brentwood Fire Department will be there with a big red fire engine.

On Sunday, meet up at Smith Park for a hike on the trails, and then enjoy a sweet treat from The Donut Distillery. Snap photos of you having fun and post on the City of Brentwood Facebook page or other social media using #BrentwoodParks.
