Brentwood High School will travel across town to Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) this Friday night to kick- off the season at 7:30 p.m. The Bruins ended their season with an overall 11-2 record, falling short to Mt. Juliet 6-A Quarterfinals (20-31).

Head coach Mike Woodward joined the Brentwood program this past spring, and it will be his first season leading the Bruins. With such an excellent record last season, Brentwood may be the team to beat this year.

Woodward served as an offensive coordinator at Ravenwood High School to Brian Rector, who is now head coach at Centennial High School. His coaching career began at Austin Peay University as a graduate assistant and was the coach at Antioch High School for seven years.

CPA finished its season 13-1 last year and has fallen short the past two years making it to the Class 3-A Semifinals. Head coach Ingle Martin has been leading the team now for three years, has had a couple of SEC players under his belt, and only three losses.

Both schools will have a lot to offer on the field and players that everyone will be keeping their sights on this season.
CPA senior Paul Adams committed to Missouri in the spring. Adams serves as an offensive tackle and was offered by other schools, such as Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Cincinnati. Joining the class of 2014, wide receiver Thomas Richard also committed to Missouri.

Even though the Bruins lost 36 graduating seniors this past year, they have gained 22 more. WR Andy Schumpert will be a dynamic attribute to the field this year, as well as quarterback Aaron Maher. Maher was invited to participate in the Class of 2014 Southeast Region Ultimate 100 Camp last year in July and given the Dodie Donnell Best Pure Football Player award.
Known as being one of the toughest districts in the state, 11-AAA will certainly live up to its competitive schedule this 2013 football season.

Brentwood will kick off at 7:30 at Christ Presbyterian Academy on Friday.
