Brentwood Market and Deli Closes

Brentwood Market & Deli

The Brentwood Market and Deli, located at 925 Franklin Road, has closed.

A longstanding establishment in Brentwood, the business was sold in 2013 to Jennifer Carell and her family.

Carell shared with us, “We purchased the business back in 2013, not the property. We tried to purchase the property but owners would never give a firm price and would shoot down every offer. The building is old and needs a lot of work and there are many restrictions with that property that we weren’t willing to take on but we had hoped to sell the business to someone that would keep it as is since local markets are rare these days.”

“It was unfortunate that the landlord had other ideas and didn’t give us that opportunity so we decided just to close down and it’s on to the next adventure. We will miss our customers for sure, many who have come to that store since they were children,” Carell added.

And Carell shared some insight into the new business coming soon, “The new business going in is Serve It Up Nashville.”

We reached out to Serve It Up Nashville for confirmation of them coming to the vacated market but did not receive a reply. They offer homemade meals that you can take home and reheat for the family with popular items like poppy seed chicken, chicken pot pie, lasagna and more.

In speaking with City of Brentwood Manager, Kirk Bednar, he stated, the firm has approached the City with some questions about licenses, etc. but was unaware of anything officially submitted to the City.

With the age of the building, there are certain requirements for what type of business can continue in the building.

Bednar explained, “Per state law as a legal non-conforming commercial use on residentially zoned property, another owner/operator must operate the business with the same use that has been there before. Essentially that means a convenience market/restaurant.”
