Eighth ranked in the state pre-season polls, Brentwood Academy (BA) will take on Memphis University at 7 p.m. to kick off the season at Vanderbilt University this Friday. The Eagles are currently ranked 187th in the country.

Finishing off with an overall 9-3 record last season, BA will have a challenging front ahead facing Memphis, who finished 10-3 last year. Memphis defeated Brentwood in the District 2-AA semifinals in 2012 (46-45).

The Eagles have some promising players this year to back up all of their pre-season hype. Senior Derek Barnett (pictured above) has made headlines and even The Tennesseans 2013 Dandy Dozen list for his college recruiting offers. Barnett has been offered by schools like Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.

Also, Brentwood Academy will have some fresh new faces out on the field this year. The team lost Quarterback Max Staver, who is now playing for the Florida Gators, and heavily recruited cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is now taking his talents to Florida State.

Quaterback and rising senior Tyler Swafford will be representing the Eagles this year. Swafford expands his talents as a pitcher at Brentwood Academy, as well, making him a well-rounded and very athletic individual. BA fans should be watching for big things to come from this young man and his athletic abilities.

Another player to keep eyes on is offensive guard Marcus Graham. A senior, Graham has been recruited by schools like Austin Peay, Missouri, and Temple. Also, class of 2015’s C.J. Sanders is making headlines in his career. This junior WR has had offers from schools like Mississippi State, Stanford, and Tennessee.

In November, Brentwood Academy will face Ensworth in the last game of the season on MyTV 30 Friday Night Lights. If the Eagles’ pre-season rankings prove to be true,  a good match up is in store for fans in November. Ensworth ended its season undefeated last year to win the D-2 AA State Tournament at Tennessee Tech University against Memphis University.

Kick off is at 7:00 p.m. at Vanderbilt University. Williamsonsource.com will be keeping you updated throughout this game on our Football Central homepage.
