Your kids can beat the summer boredom with fun day trips with the Williamson County Parks and Rec (WCPR). These trips are ideal for kids ages 6-10 and 11-15. The WCPR is hosting a series of day trips called “Boredom Busters” that will keep kids entertained and engaged. All trips are open to the public, so bring along a friend for even more fun! Take your pick from the list of trips, and register for your choices at www.wcparksandrec.com. Space is limited.

Thursday, June 2 U. S. Space & Rocket Museum

Bring along a friend and explore space at the U. S. Space & Rocket Museum in Huntsville, AL on Thursday, June 2. Visit Rocket Park, see the space shuttle and enjoy the newest exhibit, “Summer Smart Play!” Try out a working storm shelter equipped with hands-on safety games, experience the shaking and sounds created by earthquakes and generate electricity to produce light with your own pedal power! In addition, see the Rocket Center’s brand new Magic Planet® interactive, sphere-shaped display that allows guests to see hurricanes in motion, airplanes navigate the globe and how the Earth’s climate works. Check-in is 7:30 a.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. and the group returns at 6:00 p.m. The $45 fee covers transportation, admission, lunch and a 3-D or IMAX movie. Thursday, June 9 Sky Zone & Glow Galaxy

You will feel like you are flying at Sky Zone indoor trampoline park! Experience the weightlessness of jumping and bouncing on a series of trampolines and landing in a pit filled with 10,000 foam cubes. Then, head to Glow Galaxy for an afternoon of play on the glow-in-the-dark inflatables, mini-golf course, interactive dance/game floor and sports games. Participants should bring a pair of socks and a sack lunch, drink and snack. The Sky Zone/Glow Galaxy outing, Thursday, June 9, is $28 per child (for ages 6-15). The fee includes transportation to and from the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. (check-in at 8:30a.m., return at 4:00 p.m.) and admission prices. Thursday, June 16 Franklin Theatre & Brentwood Skate Center

Beat the summer boredom with a trip to the historic Franklin Theatre for a kids’ movie on Thursday, June 16. Kids Packs of popcorn, candy and a drink will be on sale for $4.50. After the movie, the group will head to Brentwood Skate Center for lunch (included), skating (bring socks) and arcade games (bring cash). Kids from ages 6 to 15 are welcome, so be sure to invite a friend to register at www.wcparksandrec.com, activity code #6571. This Boredom Buster day is $28 per child, and includes admission to the movie and skate center, lunch and transportation. Meet at the Franklin Recreation Complex at 8:30 a.m. for check-in and return at 4:00 p.m.

All Boredom Buster trips will leave from the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Before and after care is available on trip days from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Trips are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.
