Plan for all weather conditions
No matter what the forecast says, or what the weather is like before you leave, be prepared for both cold and windy and blazing hot sunshine. Pack sunscreen and a hat (make sure it fits properly as wind gusts can blow it off) as well as something warm to throw on such as a sweatshirt or windbreaker.
Choose the right footwear
Whatever you wear, make sure it is non-marking. Most boats are white, and you do not want to leave rubber marks. Sandals and open-toed shoes are okay, as long as they have some kind of grip on the sole. They also provide the advantage of being easy to slip on and take off.
Keep clothing basic
A pretty good rule of thumb: whatever you wear, make sure you don’t care if it gets wet. Denim jeans or cut-offs are always handy, since they are tough fabric and also comfortable.
Take a big bag
Bring a bag, so you can pack a second set of clothing- you are surrounded by water, after all, and can easily get wet. You will also need room for sunglasses, sun-tan lotion and some bottled water and a snack of something non-perishable.
Take a pair of sunglasses
You are out on the water- it is like being out in a park, only you are surrounded by reflective water.
Arrive with your swimsuit already on
Space is a big issue on boats and the changing facilities are usually below deck.
Other tips
Wear clothing that will not be uncomfortable with a life-vest strapped over it.
