The Franklin Road Academy Panthers put up a valiant fight offensively Friday, but their defense couldn’t do enough to clinch a victory.

The Davidson Academy Bears (5-3) traveled to FRA (1-7) and brought plenty of offense with them. A touchdown with 48 seconds remaining took DA to a 50-46 win.

Both teams had success on the ground. FRA was led by Adonis Otey, who scored five rushing touchdowns to go along with 119 yards. Walker Palmerton added 22 carries for 201 yards.

The problem for the Panthers is they couldn’t come up with a key stop defensively. The Bears had 467 total yards of offense, 220 of which came on the ground from Da’Joun Hewitt.

FRA will get a chance to heal and forget about Friday’s close loss with a bye coming up next week. After that, the Panthers’ regular season ends at home against rival Battle Ground Academy.
