Upsets were a big part of the weekend as district tournament play began for area high school baseball teams.
One of the of the bigger upsets came in District 12-AA where Page, which was just 10-19 in the regular season, upended top seeded Christ Presbyterian Academy, 5-1, throwing the Lions into the losers bracket of the tournament.
Page had thumped Marshall County on Saturday, 12-6, to earn a meeting with CPA in the winners bracket of the tournament. Nolensville ended its season with a 1-0 loss against Cascade on Sunday.
Spring Hill, the No. 2 seed, which lost its only district regular-season game to CPA, rolled past Giles County, 7-1, to remain in the winners bracket.
In other games from Sunday, Independence stayed alive, eliminating Franklin with a 6-5 win on Sunday. The Eagles dropped into the losers bracket on Saturday, losing, 2-1, against Dickson County.
Summit remained in the winners bracket, topping Dickson County, 5-0. Summit had blasted Franklin, 15-4, on Saturday.
Ravenwood also stayed in the winners bracket, upsetting Brentwood, 6-4, on Sunday after downing Centennial 9-1. Centennial faces Dickson County in the losers bracket, while Ravenwood and Summit remained in the winners bracket.
In other action, Grace Christian lost a Saturday game to Richland, 9-3 and Waverly topped Fairview, 3-1.
In Division II, BGA fell to Davidson Academy, 3-2, Saturday.
