Baseball Roundup March 16: Independence Tops Brentwood

As the Independence High School boys basketball team was advancing to the state semifinals in basketball with a victory over Knoxville Bearden, the baseball team was busy posting a victory as well.

The Eagles knocked off Brentwood High, 6-1, on Wednesday.

Coincidentally, the Bruins basketball team was also in the state tournament and lost their Class AAA quarterfinal game to Oak Ridge.

In other high school baseball action involving Williamson County teams on Wednesday, Ravenwood improved to 2-0 on the young baseball season by routing Dickson County, 10-3. The Raptors had also defeated Dickson County, 10-0, on Monday.

Centennial downed county rival Franklin High, 8-3 on Wednesday, while Spring Hill routed Marshall County, 16-6.

Brentwood Academy fell to Pope John Paul II, 7-3, marking the second straight day for the Eagles to lose to the Knights on the baseball diamond.
