Bank of America to Close Drive-Thru Services

Bank of America Closes Drive-Thru Lanes

If you’re a Bank of America customer, you will no longer have the option to do your banking via drive-thru at several Williamson County locations.

Over the past few years, Bank of America has been cutting back on the types of services it offers its customers based on their customer’s banking habits. In 2013, NPR began reporting on these changes. At that time, numerous drive-thru lanes had closed from Georgia to Texas. Slowly, more Bank of America branches followed this model and now Williamson County branches will follow suit.

For several local Bank of America branches, teller server will be discontinued effective July 6th and hours will change. Hours may vary from branch to branch, so Bank of America is urging customers to check the hours for their branch at bankofamerica.com.

The effected Williamson Co Bank of America branches include:

1211 Murfreesboro Road

7120 Moores Lane

213 5th Avenue North

133 Franklin Road

The Ozark’s First reports that the move is part of Bank of America’s plan to modify its operations due to changing consumer demands including their increased use of online and mobile banking.

According to the Bank of America website, they have 31 million active online users and 17 million mobile users. Bank of America provides an app, in which customers can take a photo of a check and deposit with their cellphone. And many customers use ATMs.

  1. When my husband and I got married in 1976, Bank of America was then, Williamson County Bank, which became Sovereign, also Nations and now, Bank of America. My brother-in-law,(who banks with First Tennessee and Regions),told me of this change and I told him.”I don’t think so.” Now after reading this article I have to eat crow! I am always open for change, but not when I know for a fact that the branch where we bank has a very odd, and small parking lot. So how are they going to accommodate the influx of people who now have been inconvenienced to go inside and wait in a long line? When they (the powers that be), decided to make this drastic change did they poll anyone? Are they going to expand the parking lots? Install more ATM’s? And what will the elderly who don’t want to get out of the comfort of their car do now? Sometimes we just need to leave well enough, alone….
