Amethyst Affair to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence

The Spring Station Women’s Club is bringing a special event, the Amethyst Affair, to Union Hall on Friday, October 3 in order to raise awareness of domestic violence in Williamson and Maury counties.

Maury County has the highest rate of reported Domestic Violence per capita in the state of Tennessee. Victims of violence and their families receive housing, counseling and other support from the Center of Hope Domestic Violence Center in Columbia. This event will raise funds to make their mission possible.

The Amethyst Affair fundraising event will take place from 7 p.m.- 10 p.m. at UAW Union Hall in Spring Hill. There will be a live auction and a silent auction, appetizer buffet, art exhibit featuring 11 artists from around the area, guest speakers and more. Cocktail attire is suggested.

“Please help us support not only the outstanding work of the shelter but also future community service projects of the club by purchasing tickets, donating auction items, and attending the Amethyst Affair”, said woman’s club President, Vicki Bechet.”We want this to be a huge success, but we need the participation of local residents in order to reach that goal.”
The live auction will have a chair theme – “Don’t Just Sit There – Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence.”  Members of the community, including representatives from the Spring Hill Police Department and other dignitaries, have decorated or re-purposed wooden and other types of chairs for the auction.

Donations for the silent auction, include a 2 night stay at a cabin in Gatlinburg; a UT package including a basketball signed by women’s coach Holly Warlick; discounts to a Sandals resort; a weekend getaway package of 2 nights at the Nashville Omni Hotel along with two tickets to the Nashville Symphony and dinner for two at Etch Restaurant; a pampering package with certificates for hair cut, facial and massage; household decor; baby items; jewelry and much more.
