Spring Hill Alderman Calls for Budget Cuts

After writing a public letter last week calling for a property tax increase in Spring Hill, an Alderman now proposes budget cuts.

Matt Fitterer, Ward 2, said this week he supports $1.08 million in various budget cuts. This view contrasts with his letter, in which he called for a  15 cent tax-rate increase to cover spending for roads, public safety and other essential services.

The cuts are “aggressive” and “across all departments.”

In his letter last week, Fitterer proposed an increase that would raise property taxes from 60 cents per $100 of value to 75 cents.

The Board of Mayor and Alderman will discuss the budget at a special called meeting on June 13.
