Columbia State Community College’s Lyceum Committee welcomes the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America’s Concert Band to the Cherry Theater Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The free concert is a family-friendly, all-ages event.

“We are delighted that this prestigious group of talented musicians chose to include Columbia State on their brief tour of Tennessee,” said Emily Gaskill, associate professor of music. “We hope this concert will be enlightening as well as entertaining for all audience members.”

During the concert, listeners will hear the music of contemporary composers and the familiar sounds of John Phillip Sousa or Maj. Glenn Miller. The band also features vocal soloists singing a wide variety of popular, classical and patriotic selections.

The United States Air Force Concert Band is a group of 45 professional musicians whose music inspires patriotism, connects communities with military service members and honors the country’s veterans.

The Cherry Theater is in the Waymon L. Hickman Building on the Columbia Campus, located at 1665 Hampshire Pike. The event is free and open to the public.

The Lyceum Committee is a cultural affairs committee that serves the community by presenting lectures, musical concerts, dramatic presentations and book chats. All Lyceum events are open to the public and free to attend.
