Activities Available for Seniors in March

In March, the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPRD) will offer several ongoing activities and special events specifically designed for seniors 55 and older.

During March, free monthly potluck and bingo events will be held at three locations: the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr. on March 10, (615) 302-0971, ext. 2210; the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. on March 11, (615) 786-0200, ext. 2410; and the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd., on March 16, (615) 790-5719, ext. 2010. Call prior to the event to make a reservation, and bring a dish to share. Potlucks start at noon.

The Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville will also offer a free seniors social club on March 19 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Enjoy light refreshments and socialize with other active seniors while sharing ideas for future group activities.  Call February 26-March 16 to register.

On March 16, registration will open at the Franklin and Spring Hill centers for an April 23 trip to the Lane Motor Museum, a celebrated automotive history attraction in Nashville,  followed by a fun lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Transportation and museum admission are included in $25 fee. Lunch is Dutch treat. Registration is March 16-April 10 or until the trip is full.

Area seniors may register beginning March 21 for the AARP Smart Driver program which will be offered April 15 and 16 at the Franklin Recreation Complex. Adults 55 and older can sharpen their driving skills and earn possible discounts on auto insurance by completing this two-day course ($15 for AARP members with cards, $20 for non-members).
