What made you decide to run for mayor in 2010?
I retired from Metropolitan Nashville Planning Commission after 42 years and had served on the Board of Mayor and Alderman since 2005. With that experience I thought I was qualified to be Mayor. also I had all my family here and wanted to make this town the best place to live as possible.

We heard you had a successful time in Carmel, Indiana last weekend. What was it like to run your first full marathon at 74?
My son laid out a 16 week training schedule for a full 26.2 marathon and I followed that training schedule. I also had a great group to train with and a pacer who helped me finish the run. Running the full marathon was a very difficult run but at the end it turned out to be very exciting and something I will always remember fondly. There are many stories of people in the Nolensville Running Club who have had the same experience.

With all the growth happening now in Nolensville, how concerned are you and the leaders of the town with retaining the small town charm and historic character?
With all the growth in Nolensville, all the leaders are of one mind when it comes to
retaining the small town charm of our town. We fight battles every day from developers who
have interest in developments which do not fit in with our goals of retaining the rural small
town charm we all love about this town.

How can the Nolensville community help out with fostering healthy growth?
Do what many people do and that is attend our Planning Commission, and the Board of Mayor
and Alderman meeting and provide input and guideless as we consider changes in proposed developments, zoning and land use.
