Ask about the bidding process.
“We try to anticipate any possibility that could come up. A lot of contractors try to get the job by offering a lower bid and don’t include every scenario of what could happen.”
You probably received many bids for the job, but figuring out who to choose can be a process. While some contractors factor in potential complications, some sacrifice accuracy by ruling out contingency funds. They do this in hopes of just getting the job because they offered a lower price. Make sure to ask whether their bid factors in possible situations that may arise. If the contractor doesn’t ask questions about the job and doesn’t at least do a walk-through of the site, it is unlikely that the bid is accurate.
