3 Must Attend April Events at the Library

April begins with a bang with these wonderful programs at the Main Library (1314 Columbia Ave).

Starting Seeds Indoors
Thursday, Apr. 2, 6:00pm-7:30pm 

It’s too early to plant most seeds in your garden, but you can start them inside now.  Amy Dismukes, Williamson County’s Horticulture Extension Agent, will show you how in this fun, hands-on presentation.
Main Library
Tuesday, Apr. 7, 4 p.m.

Seussical, musical theater based on some of the most famous books by Dr. Seuss, is coming to the Library!  Your favorite characters are all going to beat the library singing and dancing – Horton, the Cat in the Hat, and the people from Who-ville.  The performance will be 30 to 40 minutes, with time for kids to meet the characters afterwards.

This free show is being brought to you by Columbia State’s Commercial Entertainment Program.

A WCPL Special Poetry Event – Poet MDs from Vanderbilt University
Monday, Apr. 13, 6:00 pm

These four physicians from Vanderbilt University have quite a following; luckily they will be at WCPL on Monday, April 13, to give a free program of their poems.  These poets are: Brian Christman trained in Medicine/Pulmonary&Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt and is currently Vice-Chair of Vanderbilt’s Department of Medicine and Chief of Medical Service at VA TN Valley Health Care System.

Doug Hester is an anesthesiologist at Vanderbilt who primarily cares for ENT, Plastics and Neurosurgery patients.

Irène Mathieu is a writer and medical student at Vanderbilt University. Her poetry, prose, and photography have been published or are forthcoming in The Caribbean Writer, 34th Parallel, the Lindenwood Review, Muzzle Magazine, qarrtsiluni, Extract(s), So to Speak, Diverse Voices Quarterly, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Love Insha’Allah, Los Angeles Review, Museum of Americana, HEArt Journal, Callaloo Journal, and elsewhere.

Brenda Butka’s work has been published in Threepenny Review, Slant, The Cortland Review, Florida Review, 2nd & Church,  Journal of the American Medical Association, Annals of Internal Medicine, Chest and other journals.
