GUAC Mexican restaurant, at 1311 Murfreesboro Road, closed in June. Although vacant now, it shouldn’t be for too long. Smoothie King is preparing to open a new store at that location.

“We were shooting for early September, but it could be mid or late in the month,” Clay Quattlebaum, who is the point man for franchise owner Paul McCulloch, said.

McCulloch, who owns 15 Smoothie King franchises, most of them in the Middle Tennessee area, is opening three more at the same time.

The Franklin location will be first, followed by one in Lebanon and one in Nashville on Jefferson Street.

“When I sign a lease I like to open as soon as possible,” McCulloch, who signed the lease in June, said.

He owns the Smoothie Kings currently in Williamson County: at CoolSprings Galleria, at 600 Frazier Drive, 9040 Carothers Parkway and 330 Franklin Road.

“We got the tiles today, we will get the counters and cabinets next week and after that corporate will send an opener for the final stretch,” Quattlebaum said.

“I think it is a great location,” he added. “I am excited to get it open.”
