8. Nolensville Mill Company

The Nolensville Mill gave its name to Mill Creek, of course. It was first owned by the Jordan family until a group of local investors bought it and created the Nolensville Mill Company in 1890. It ground flour but in 1933, with demand dropping, it switched to livestock feed. The business passed through several owners with names likely familiar to Nolensville residents: S.C. Battle bought it in 1916; Daid Gooch bought him out in 1920; it stayed in the family until finally shutting down in 1986 after nearly a century of use.
