8.Franklin Road and Maryland Way/Church Street

Sensing a pattern here? Most of the worst roads in Brentwood cluster around the Old Hickory/Franklin Road intersection, according to the joint Metro study. On either side of this intersection, Franklin Road gets about 25,000 vehicles per day south of the cross and about 24,000 north of it.

This was studied in Brentwood’s joint metro traffic study, and numerous ideas were put forward for how to make traffic flow through smoother. With Old Hickory so close just a little north of Maryland Way on Franklin Road the congestion compounds between the two.

Rush hour here might be the worst in the county, with countless offices and office parks and retail space set up in the several square miles surrounding the area, Maryland Way serves as a major eastbound option and the conduit to I-65.
